Monaco extends its territory on the sea

Monaco extends its territory on the sea

For over 150 years, the Principality of Monaco has chosen to adapt its town planning to the small size of its 2 km² territory. The scarcity of available land has led the Principality to gradually expand on the sea with the construction of the Portier (which houses the Japanese Garden and the Grimaldi Forum), the land of Sporting, the beaches of Larvotto , the district of Fontvieille or the extension of port Hercules, for a total of more than 40 hectares earned on the sea (20% of the territory).

To support this development, the Principality launched in 2015 a new project of urbanization at sea consisting of creating a 6-hectare district, with a strong ambition for sustainable development and protection of the environment.

This project, won by the Bouygues Travaux Publics group for the maritime infrastructure, is presented here for all audiences (media, social networks, local residents, institutional …) through an educational video that describes the methods and procedures stages of realization.

Shooting on the ground, by drone, computer graphics, digital model contribute largely to a better apprehension of the technical and environmental stakes of this prestigious urbanization at sea.
