28 Aug Monaco commits to save Mediterranean turtles
Since its creation in 1910 by Albert 1st, nicknamed “the Prince of the seas” because of his love for the oceans. The Oceanographic Institute of Monaco is constantly promoting the richness and fragility of the oceans and promoting sustainable management, reasoned and effective protection.
To achieve this, it mediates between scientific and socio-economic actors on the one hand, and the general public and political decision-makers on the other, and is involved in the implementation and the carry out of safeguarding and protection missions.
Among these projects, the construction in 2018 of a care and awareness area for sea turtles. Built on the extension of the Oceanographic Museum of Monaco, this center comes to the rescue of injured turtles in Monaco and the region.
It houses a health clinic and an outdoor convalescent pool, accessible during the Museum’s visit. The turtles treated recover quietly while the visitors observe them and become aware of their fragility. They are thus encouraged to act concretely, in their daily life, for the protection of oceans and sea turtles.
It is this ambitious project that we presented in this film made with the aim of raising the awareness of the media, the public and motivating patrons to invest for its financing.
Carried by its Managing Director, Robert Calcagno, it carries strong images that can not leave indifferent. In order to bring the project to light and to allow everyone to better understand it, we produced realistic computer-generated images and integrated them into the real scenery from ground and drone shots, also made by our care.
The film was broadcast to his serene highness Prince Albert of Monaco on the occasion of a fundraising evening where many patrons and international media participated. It is also available on the Institute’s website and on social networks.
